Like a fractured radio transmission, the static between memories haunts the curious listener. I found an old recording in an abandoned cellar below a relic of the gilded age and it told me the secrets of the universe: "Imagination embodies the dark unknown in myth."

You made the world's vignette of song, tilling the plumes of your smoke-filled chamber from "inert clouds of cosmic dust" and empty space from which the light could not escape. You dreamed up syncopated chaos and parabolas of sound, of sanguine trumpets and stick-slinging drummers sweltering in heat tides; the throbbing rain leftovers from a dead nova that etched its way into the prehistoric shrines of Lascaux.

You threw the particles at each other and they "shattered into a constellation of fragments", telling me: "Without the decay of autumn of the dying off in winter, there would be no hopeful budding in the spring nor flowering of summer.”

And now, empty cup in hand, my eternal form looks to you - my constant. "When the last stars burn out and all that remains in the universe are black holes, the Big Bang may still roar with the cacophony of life."
